Applications

Course participants must usually be 18 years or over.

We may be prepared to accept applications from under 18s only if they are non-resident and are in a group with at least two adults who are prepared to accept responsibility for them.

Applications are preferred from pre-formed string quartets. Depending on circumstances, we may be able to accept applications from string trios, quintets or sextets, or small groups containing other instruments such as piano or a woodwind instrument.

Individuals may apply but their application will only be accepted if it possible to incorporate them into a group. This may only be possible if a pre-formed group needs to replace a member at short notice.

Please note that although the site as a whole is reasonably accessible, and all playing rooms are either on the ground floor or accessible by lift, all bedrooms are at first or second floor level, with no lift access. Some hotels in Oxford offer accessible accommodation.

For those opting to be residential, accommodation is in single bedrooms in the School’s boarding houses, with common rooms and kitchens. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in any of the bedrooms. One or two rooms have en-suite facilities but most do not. Most bathroom facilities are in single-sex blocks off the landings adjacent to the bedroom corridors. If you need to be close to a bathroom, please let us know and we will try to allocate you a suitable room. You need to provide your own towel and toiletries; bedding is provided.

Meals are provided by the School’s catering staff and served in the School dining hall. They cater for us very well and can cater for most dietary requirements. Please state any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

You are responsible for ensuring your belongings, including your instruments, are adequately insured.
